Who is ready for some summer flowers? Although we can’t have the summer we had imagined this year, we can still remember our favorite things from before. One of my favorite things to do in PA was to stop on the side of the road and pick up fresh flowers from stands outside local farms. There would be a little money box set up where you could put your cash in (and a change box) and it was all based on the honor system. There would be a wide array of fresh flowers, fruits, veggies, eggs, whatever the family had produced in surplus for the day. Who is ready for some summer weather? One of my favorite summer memories is going to the fruit farms to pick fresh fruit straight from the trees. In the summers, we would collect mangos while in the winters we would go an get oranges. I’m telling you, fruit picked straight from the source tastes so much better than any store. Plus, there was the added benefit that we would eat it as we were picking it (the owners of the farm would be with us). One of my favorite memories is running around the farm with my cousins in tow as we came up with our own adventures and came face to face with a wild pig that had slipped through the fence. The naps under the trees while catching up on gossip with my cousins will be memories that will forever define my childhood summers. With this summer being so uncertain and strange, I find myself reliving memories from a simpler time and looking through old pictures.
